How to Use a Glass/Slate Friction Call
Using a glass turkey call is an effective way to mimic the sounds of a wild turkey and attract them during hunting. To start, hold the call in your non-dominant hand, with your fingers lightly gripping the edges, leaving the glass surface exposed. With your dominant hand, hold the strikera small rod typically made of wood or synthetic materiallike a pencil. Gently press the striker against the glass surface at an angle and draw small, slow circles to produce soft yelps, or move the striker in short, sharp motions for clucks and cuts. The key is to maintain consistent pressure and practice different rhythms and speeds to replicate various turkey vocalizations. With patience and practice, you'll master the sounds and increase your chances of a successful hunt.
