While the original Shield held 7 rounds in the flush-fitting magazine, Smith & Wesson redesigned the Shield Plus magazine follower while slimming down the internal grip frame to accommodate a 10-rd. flush-fitting magazine (and 13 rounds in the pinky extension mag). So you get extra firepower in a Pistol that's just about identical to its predecessors. The grip itself features a few tweaks to the texturing that make it more comfortable and controllable. The new enhanced texture allows you to manage recoil and keep a firm grip, and delivers comfort when concealing. The real prize, though, is the all-new trigger—which is one of the finest we've experienced on a subcompact pistol. It's exceptionally crisp and creep-free, with minimal overtravel and a new safety blade that's more comfortable. And, like the original Shield, the trigger features a quick reset that you can hear AND feel. All these new features—combined with the near-bulletproof durability and superior reliability of the original—make the new Shield Plus the pinnacle of the concealed carry pistol. This special model features a Performance Center-tuned action that's smoother and more reliable than ever, as well as a 3.1" ported barrel and slide that reduce reciprocating mass for enhanced control for follow-up shots. It also features a manual thumb safety for added security when carrying.
