The German M35 Stahlhelm represents one of the pivotal moments in the history of helmet design. A modification of the original 1916-issued WWI steel helmet, the M35 was the first combat helmet issued to the Wehrmacht in the shadow of looming WWII. The Helmet proved incredibly popular, offering noticeable protection against penetration from shrapnel and ricochets on the modern battlefield. In the early years of WWII, millions of original helmets were churned out by the German war machine. But in the more than 70 years since Germany's crushing defeat at the hands of the Allies, good condition pieces have become incredibly rare and incredibly expensive.
