The years 1915 and 2015 are engraved in Roman numerals are around the medallion logo in the center of the wood grip and on either side of the Brigadier-style slide, denoting that it's the Centennial edition. Plus, the whole thing arrives in an ammo-can-style Beretta box with the anniversary date. Whether a collector or a Beretta enthusiast, this is a must have.

The original 1915

Beretta patented the 1915 about a month after Italy joined the allies in WWI. The Italian military immediately adopted the new handgun as their own. Constructed with two features that would become hallmark to Beretta, cutaway on the slide and a minimally-protruding barrel, it was chambered in 9mm Glisenti. This was a rather tame counterpart to the 9mm Parabellum it was based on. The 1915 was equipped with two safeties, one frame-mounted in the rear (similar to the one Beretta put on the 92) and the other above the trigger. The 92 Centenial has some of these features, while still displaying the best of what Beretta has done in the last 100 years.
