TriStar Raptor, Semi-Automatic, 12 Gauge, 3 Chamber, 28 Barrel, 5+1 Rounds, 5+1 is rated out of 5 by 2.Rated 5 out of 5 by PMCRPAC5 from Excellent value Purchased this shotgun for hunting and skeet shooting. Looked at all the expensive options but was told by a friend that is a coach for HIgh School skeet team to "check out this company called Tristar. A few of the kids have them and I have fired them and they are excellent both in cost and action." As a techy looked them up on You Tube, searched and read all the reviews. Great reviews across the board. Ordered this shotgun and picked it up at my local FFL dealer who was impressed. The fit ans finish are great, a couple of spots that were edgy with a scratch but minimal at best and unless looking for it not noticeable. At this price point it did not bother me. Took it to my buddies house and loaded it with Winchester heavy load (as is recommended to break it in 50-75 rounds) and put at least 80 rounds through it. The action on the gun is super smooth and all parts are solidly in place with no looseness or cheap feel. The bolt release was stiff initially but loosened after the session to a comfortable release with minimal exertion. The shotgun has a nice feel in your hands when you pick it up and swivel with it, balance is real good and the recoil due to the gas system is minimal. Buddies daughter on the skeet team shot it and loved it. The green fiber optic sight is OK (I will switch to red out of preference) made picking up targets easy. Shot about 80 clays that day and missed about 8-10 clays. Not a single FTF or FTE. Going to try lighter loads but I will put another 200 rounds of heavy load through it and then break it down completely and clean, oil it. The chokes are labeled with notches, come in a functional plastic case and are put in with ease and no loosening during firing. Overall I was more than impressed with this shotgun's initial performance. My buddies son had the Tristar O/U that his grandparents bought him for Christmas and I shot that one as well. Another very nice gun by Tristar. I think for those of us that are looking to buy a functioning shotgun that is reliable in the field but are questioning spending an arm and a leg on a $1500+ shotgun, Tristar is a company you need to seriously consider. Spend the money you save on other equipment. I am looking forward to using this shotgun in the field this year andhave no doubt it will go bang every time I pull the trigger and I will certainly consider this company for future purchases as well.Date published: 2017-01-05Rated 5 out of 5 by CasTex from Great Price and Gun! A great gun for the price. My 1st Semi-Auto in along time. I took it Dove Hunting and had no problems with light or heavy loads.Date published: 2016-10-06
