Dated 1939, this tool was issued at the onset of WWII. As used by Swiss troops to fill sandbags, shore up fortifications and more way back when. A cool collectible, with plenty of life left for hard tasks down the road.
Swiss Military Surplus WWII-Era Folding Shovel, Used is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Divine Rapids from Some of the Good StuffI ordered one and got a second because they are very nice compact and sturdy snow shovels. One had paint like finish and the other more used one was polished aluminum. Nice usable and collectable shovel. The good stuff doesn't stay in stock for long, so get it when you can!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Chuck from Cool shovel, kinda small handle.I bought this shovel cause it was kinda cool and I saw it on a youtube video. IT is dated 1939 and I don't think it was ever used. I only wish the handle was thicker and longer. It's not even as thick as a U.S. GI shovel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by braunsan from Fantastic GearBuilt to function and to last, this is beautiful gear at a fantastic price. I have two and have used them both in snow. I think they would work on other loose, light material as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Peter from SizeExcellent value and flexible with ability to make your own handle if necessary, but shovel is not as large as it appears in the picture. Closer to entrenching tool size than snow shovel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Skypilot from Solid and Useful Piece of Military HistoryHaving served 40 years in the US Army, I've had occasion to use small "entrenching tools" or shovels. This is a bona bide Swiss Army snow shovel with a date stamped 1939. The hardwood handle comes out, making it easy to store. It most certainly saw duty in the Alps. I showed it to my Green Beret buddy and his eyes got big. I know what he's getting for next Christmas! Mine? I decided to stow it in the back of my VW Beetle for unforeseen contingency operations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CT__Yankee from Used, good condition, good for where a larger shovel just takes too much roomI bought 2, with one was fine, and the other having a good ding on the leading edge, likely hit ice or a rock. Took several seconds to straighten it with a hard plastic hammer and some wood behind it. Aluminum, not steel, so not going to work with dirt, but a bit wider that common entrenching tools to work better on snow. That ring simply slides towards the blade to release the handle, a bit of twisting may help. As with most military items, built simple, sturdy and functional.
