At the heart of the rifle is Springfield's push-feed action. Dual locking lugs on the fluted bolt run smoothly down raceways for perfect, repeatable engagement, while an optimized extraction cam provides reliable extraction in any condition. Additionally, the bolt features dual cocking cams for ease of operation along with tool-less disassembly for maintenance. Providing strength and repeatability is an integral machined recoil lug, and electrical discharge machining (EDM) of the bolt lug raceways ensures precision dimensions and smooth cycling.

Moving on, the Waypoint features a premium BSF barrel jacketed in a roll-wrapped carbon fiber sleeve and loaded under tension. This means 95% of the carbon fiber sleeve doesn’t contact the barrel, which helps to provide cooling air gaps and promotes cold-bore to warm-bore repeatability. So that .75 MOA Accuracy Guarantee? It's not just when the barrel is cold. In addition, fluting under the sleeve reduces weight and increases surface cooling area. The result? Carbon fiber done the right way to deliver consistent accuracy.

Next up is the stock, and there's plenty to talk about here too. Springfield worked with AG Composites to develop a premium line of carbon fiber stocks just for the Waypoint. When weight is critical, carbon fiber's exceptional capabilities make it the only choice. Each stock is made from 100% carbon fiber, hand-laid, and pillar-bedded for the perfect marriage to the action. This model features a 3-axis adjustable cheek comb that lets you dial in the ideal cheek weld. On the "business end" is a Pachmayr® Decelerator Recoil Pad made from super-soft rubber blend to provide maximum shooting comfort.

Moving on to the finishing touches, the Waypoint cuts no corners. It comes standard with a TriggerTech® Field Trigger, featuring Frictionless Release Technology™. It's adjustable in the field from 2.5 to 5 lbs., and features a patented free-floating roller for a crisp, consistent pull with no metal-on-metal contact.
