Rated 4 out of 5 by Stahley from Great Training Round!I keep a couple of boxs of "Speer" brand "Lawman" line ammunition in the cabinet as often as I can. The 165 grain, FMJ-FN rounds feed reliably, fire clean, are accurate, but most importantly, they make my Smith&Wesson 4006 "feel" the same as the 165 grain performance hollow points that I carry in the weapon. In my opinion, that is the job of a quality FMJ training round. Make the training shooting experience "feel" like the expensive performance rounds at a fraction of the price. No one I know of, who carries a weapon to engage a threat posed by another human being, carries FMJ rounds in their weapon. Additionally, I would like to thank the folks at "Sportsmans Guide" for making these, and other options, available to us at very reasonable prices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by InfidelQueerface from Defense load recoil in an FMJ range roundSince I first tried Speer lawman, I have switched over from all other FMJ range purpose ammunition for my daily carry gun's training ammunition. The .40 165gr lawman is a ballistic match to the defense load also marketed from speer, the gold dot bonded jacketed hollow point. So, from the glock23, expensive defense ammo and the lawman range ammo feel significantly "hotter" than standard .40 cal winchester white box of the same projectile weight. When using lawman, compared to other training ammunition options, the recoil you learn to expect is identical to what you would actually be carrying and using. One performs how one practices, don't get caught off guard! As an added huge plus, the speer lawman is by far the cleanest shooting ammo I've ever used. It produces noticeably less smoke when fired and carbon residue buildup on the gun itself after a range day is significantly reduced compared to other new manufacture ammo like standard white box. The product description states that this is to prevent lead exposure in indoor ranges. This kind of consideration for the safety of the operator is another signal of the level of quality inherent in this product.
