Rated 4 out of 5 by trigger from Very NiceBoth came with everything including knife/fork/spoon kit. one is in perfect condition. smelled clean but musty. the other....is so bad. i had to hulk out to get the bowl off the pot and im not sure why but someone put some kind of alcohol in the canteen and never washed it out before turning it in. the cup reeks of fermented, maple syrupy rot. the bowl smells like it but not so bad. the pot smells some and is well used. and the canteen has a thick coating of whatever was in there. i press on the outside of the canteen and feel the stuff cracking on the inside. its bad haha. i will clean these up and use it though. i have no hard feelings either. its mil surp so you get what you get :) also if i cant clean the canteen ill pitch it for some room for a trangia or room for food or something.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chuckles from The Best Bargain in Mess KitsThis is probably the best bargain you are likely to get for this mess kit/canteen combination on today's surplus market. The metal cook pot is made of heavy aluminum and has an external green enamel finish, which has held up very well to electric, gas, heat tab and wood campfire heat sources. It is excellent for boiling water on an esbit stove, which, by the way, fits in the cloth carrier. The riveted pot handle unfolds and mates with a slot on the side of the large, square plastic bowl, allowing you to carry it with one hand enabling your movement down the chow line so the Serbian Army Cook can ladle you up a ration of goulash and boiled cabbage. The small cup is for drinking from your canteen or your ration of Slivovtz. The plastic canteen holds one liter and nests inside the aluminum cook pot. Inside the light cloth carrier are two tabs for holding a 3 piece (knife w/ bottle opener, fork & spoon) chow set, which unfortunately, is missing from this offer. No matter; a European Chow set is easily obtainable from SG or other sources. A metal Spork might also be a suitable substitute and lighter, too. The lack of the issue KFS set is more than made up for by the fact that you get TWO, count 'em 2, of these brilliant kits for one ridiculously low price. One of mine arrived with some residual Yugoslavian gravy in the pot, but cleaned up with little effort (that's part of the surplus fun!). The whole thing fits together and will ride on a pistol belt. The carrier seems a little lightly constructed, but hasn't failed in my using it for the last 6 months. In sum, it is a great value and you will regret not having this pair of kits when they are gone and everybody else is selling them for twice as much.
