This Serbian M1 Gas Mask is a copy of the U.S. M-9 model that's easily identified by the oversized "nose" created by the molded-in airflow deflector channels. It served as a standard issue to land forces in Yugoslavia, as well as for SFRY successor states (Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia) in the late 20th century. The pliable, tough rubber facemask maintains an airtight seal with an adjustable harness to provide a snug fit. Originally developed to protect against chemical, biological and radiological threats, it features a side-loading canister holding a 60mm filter, integrated speech diaphragm and generously sized eyepieces for improved vision. Inside the waterproofed bag is an eyeglass cloth and information card.
