From November 1917 to October 1922, the Russian Empire was torn apart by many groups competing to determine the political future of the country. One of the largest groups was the Bolshevik-led Red Army, and the Budenovka was an essential part of their revolutionary uniform. This high-topped reproduction is based on the earliest versions, crafted to mimic the historic "Kiev Rus" helmet seen often in Russian folklore. The Budenovka is 100% wool, with a felt Red Star and pin. Ear flaps can be worn up or down. It's hard to find even these reproductions…if originals still exist from this conflict they are certainly in museums.
An essential part of any historical Soviet collection!
The Russian Civil War sent ripples of chaos throughout Asia, Europe and beyond. Almost every nation on Earth participated in this conflict, even the USA! Once the Bolsheviks finally seized power, the new Soviet Union would go on to be a defining force in World politics, from WW2 up to the Cold War and even beyond its eventual dissolution in 1991. The historic Budenovka goes hand-in-hand with the Nagant, the Mauser, the Maxim machine gun and other symbols of Russian Revolution.
