The iconic style of the Brodie Helmet (known more commonly as the "Doughboy Helmet" here in the States) was first introduced to the world in 1915, in the trenches of the Great War. The distinctive shallow bowl with wide circular brim was originally designed to offer increased protection against one of the most-common dangers faced in the trenches: massive shrapnel blasts occurring directly overhead.

The popularity of the Helmet would see it used during the Interwar Period and into World War II by British and Commonwealth forces.
