Proudly displays the German "Bundesadler," aka Federal Eagle

In 1918, the newly founded Weimar Republic completely revamped the traditional German "Reichsadler" eagle to remove symbols of the previous monarchy (like the crown and shield) in favor of a simple eagle with wings and talons outstretched. By 1935, the Nazi Party had solidified its control over government organs and begun to replace all national insignia with their own party symbols. In 1949 West Germany, aka the Federal Republic of Germany, re-adopted all Weimar Republic insignia and the Bundesadler was back in the action.
