Rated 5 out of 5 by Stahley from An Awesome Option! My kids and I enjoyed a "Range Day" this last week, and among the weapons we ran was what we consider a last ditch option. The 108 year old Mauser is chambered in 6,35mm Browning (also known as the .25ACP) has a three inch barrel and a 9 shot detachable box magazine. I have run most brands of ammunition through the weapon over the years, to find those that are most compatable with our particular firearm. Our experience finds the "Fiocchi" brand, 50 grain Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) round's Point Of Impact (POI) are as close to point of aim (POA) that we can find. Considering the basic sights on the pistol, this is imparitive. I have attached a target sheet of my son's efforts. The first nine (9) shot magazine (highlighted in yellow) was a bit high, but in a good group. His second nine (9) shot magazine (highlighted in green), seems to confirm his comment on the day that "I got a better sight picture on the second mag!" Although both groups were good, considering the range he fired from, I think he should feel very confident if deployment would be required. After the pistols were cleaned and put up, we had a chance to review the work. My Son put nine of nine shots into what would be the occular/cranial cavity of his advisary, putting his man down at 5 yards, a range that is well beyond the normal, point blank working range for that weapon! Whether the round would have enough energy to do its job at this distance or not is another matter altlgether. It is comforting to know he can put the rounds where needed, even at extreme range. Please join me in thanking our friends at the "Sportsmans Guide" for making the "Fiocchi" brand 50 grain Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) and the wide variety of other quality ammunition, targets, cleaning suppplies and even free advice on the "Balistic Calculator". They bring to us all of this at prices that represent an excellent value. They give us all the tools needed to teach the next generation all the freedoms we, as citizens, enjoy and the skills necessary to ensure those freedoms are never threatened. Rated 5 out of 5 by Armynurse from Nice Price and always available Sportsman's Guide always has 25 acp available at a decent price. This round is becoming increasingly rare locally because more powerful pistols the same size as the .25 are available now (Keltec, Ruger LCP and others in .32 and .380). But for those of us who have those old pistols, it's nice to have a box our two around.
