Rated 5 out of 5 by JayRod from Great performanceThis is the slug for you if want above average accuracy from a smoothbore barrel. At 50 yards using a Ithaca 37, IC choke, and rifled sights, I managed to keep 5 shots with a 3 inch group off a bench rest. This is perfect for deer hunting where applicable. I tried a Modified choke as well and had a 4 inch group with 3 shots. The tru-ball design is centered on providing true alignment in the bore which in return, enhances accuracy. The chronograph told me the majority of the slugs were flying at 1565fps which is plenty of speed for a hunting load. To remove lead streaks off your choke after shooting, simply take a small jar and fill it with Hoppe's bore cleaner. Soak your choke in the cleaner overnight and then you are good to go with minimal scrubbing. Hoppe's bore cleaner is mild and will not harm the steel in chokes like harsh cleaners with ammonia. Peace out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Speed Bump from Truball makes quite an impression...One ounce of soft lead impacting something at 1600fps doesn't need any further explanation does it?Typical 12ga slug ballistics are not new, but what is new is how well these "bad boys" typically shoot.I have used these loads in a multitude of open choke smooth bore applications, and have always insisted on the True Ball slug from federal from the first box I ever tried. If you read up on how these actually work with the cup and ball design, I'm amazed nobody never came up with this design many years earlier.Try them, and if you don't agree, just send them to me and I will properly dispose of them! They're typically very accurate, and sailing along at max power for a slug of this weight. You really can't go wrong with these, other than a sore shoulder if you are not use to this kind of recoil. If you are recoil sensitive, don't expect to shoot too many of these from the bench, but if you need raw power and excellent accuracy in a rifled slug, here ya go. I doubt you could do better with something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rick P from Wow! Incredible wallop..The last time my son used a slug in smoothed bore he wound up with a sore shoulder and that was after firing a couple mags of 7.62 X 54R from my M-44 Mosin Nagant.I'm not saying these slugs are pellets, but out of an old Mossberg 500 with accu-choke, these slugs, in spite of their energy were more manageable with great results.
