Rated 1 out of 5 by FMW AFTE from Prairie StormI’m on my third flat of these loads. They pattern and kill well. Now the downside, these are the filthiest shells I’ve ever shot. The iinside of my k-gun’s barrel resembles a smokestack. The receiver has substantial powder and grex in it from one or two shots, grex is under the extractors and becomes a real hindrance. The crimps are poor and dished in allowing Grex to pour out. These are not at all what I expect out of federal. I’ve been using their shells for 55 years. They kill well FMW Ret. PSP member AFTE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kelley W from Nice tight patterns....The best chokes to use are the IC or Modified choke and no tighter....The Flightcontrol wad really makes the payload fly out tight and stays enclosed the first 5-7 yards before opening up. Recoil is much more brisk than standard field loads. I have found this load works well on turkeys as well using an modified choke out to 35-40 yards. Do not fool yourself in thinking this load does not pattern tight. The wad is the secret!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Synoptic 12 from Shot shells Seeping Buffer - Crimps Open "New"Upon ordering the Federal Premium Prairie Storm 12 Gauge 2 3/4 1 1/4 ozs. 25 rounds, I found many crimps to be open quite a bit and buffer was strewn about in all three boxes ordered. Personally, I've never seen anything like this. Federal manufactures excellent ammunition. However, I was surprised when I seen this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Granite Jaw from Hits hardA tight patterning load out of my Remington Magnum Wingmaster 870 30" fixed full choke. #4's averaged 83% in a 30" circle at 40 yds. High velocities (1500fps with this load) sometimes wreck patterns, not so with this gun/load. Does a great job on late season long range pheasants I'm a believer in the flight control wad, as it's preformed in buckshot loads for me as well, in both long barrel full and 18.5" open cylinder. Pattern is a bit tight with a full choke inside 30 yds. Be patient or there won't be much left on close shots. Pattern your gun, experiment with chokes and you'll find a combination that works well with this load. A bit pricey, but comparable to other high performance shells.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lucky1 from Great shellsBeen shooting pheasant for 45 years and these shells shock me. Knock down power like no other. These guys that are shooting 4's and 5's in 3 inchers can definitely go to a 6 in 2 3/4 and never miss a beat and probably have more bird to eat..but just sayin. Use what ever your heart desires. As long as you hunt.
