Rated 5 out of 5 by coldfront from Best Shell On The Market I have been using this shell since they first came out although the speed was lower in the begining I like the 1500fps. The copper plated shot does not deform like regular lead. Accept for this year 2017 (bad year only 205) my 2 hunter friends and myself shoot an average of about 270 roosters a year unless i go to a shooting preserve. I use 5's in the begining of the season and 4's later in the season. Two years ago I went to private shooting preserve and 5 of us shot 87 roosters in one day. I was the only person using the Federal Premiums and the giudes were wondering what in the heck kind of shells that was shooting. I shot over forty of those birds and I think it was closer to fifty. I also only use 4's when I am the poster. I use a improved modified choke in a Beretta A400 or AL391 which ever one I take for the day. I hope that Federal never stops making and selling these shells. I am worried that some day they will so just in case I always have about 10 to 15 boxes laying around, but that is only good for a couple of seasons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Muskethead from P138 4's & 5's I've been using these shells on my annual South Dakota pheasant hunt for the past nine years. These shells are heads and shoulders above all others. I prefer these to any 3 or 3.5 inch shells. The 1500 per second is smoking and with that speed comes range. The copper coated lead pellets kill cleanly. I wouldn't think of going after pheasants without these shells.

Rated 5 out of 5 by shocknaw from Pheasant Supreme I live in south dakota and live and breathe Pheasant hunting. These shells are the ONLY choice. They pattern amazingly well, and kill better than any other load on the market. So many guides around here give these to clients just so their day is shorter. Consistant kills even at long range and at about 17 bucks a box it is no pocket book killer. Buy these. you owe it to yourself and the game you hunt!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by LIV2HNT from Deadly on Pheasants Used this ammo in my Benelli SBE II on a 2 day Kansas pheasant hunt this month. Devastating results. Shot birds from 20yds to 50yds with all clean kills. My guide wanted to know what shells I was using because of the way the birds were dropping. Because of the tight patterns these shells hold I was using an IC choke tube. if you pheasant hunt you should definitely give these a try.

Dissecting a shell revealed 231 copper plated #5 pellets and Federals weird 2 piece wad (same used in their cheapo target loads). Patterns decently at 40yds on paper but obviously not as well as much more expensive loads using special wads. Choke it tight and you'll still get the distance you want. Nothing unexpected here just decent quality at decent price and plenty of recoil for fun.
