It starts with a steel receiver that is glass bedded within the stock. Glass bedding is a time-consuming process, but it's worth it because it creates an exact match between the action and stock—and because it free-floats the barrel. Free-floated barrels are inherently more accurate because they are allowed to vibrate, flex and move freely within the stock, WITHOUT interference from contact points.
The X-Bolt Target comes equipped with a 26" stainless steel, fluted bull barrel that's hand-chambered for precise headspacing—again, a time-consuming process, and one that other rifle manufacturers often skip. But the result is absolutely worth it for accuracy and shot-to-shot consistency. The barrel comes topped with a Recoil Hawg muzzle brake that reduces felt recoil by up to 73%.
