If you've always loved the 1911 but haven't carried one because of the excess weight, the new ATI FXH-45 Moxie is right up your alley. Instead of the classic "heavy metal" design of the original, the FXH-45 Moxie features a polymer frame that's about half a pound lighter than GI 1911s—that's the kind of weight loss you'll notice when it's holstered on your hip. Another benefit to the polymer frame worth noting—it's also significantly more affordable than any standard 1911 because ATI didn't have to muck around with metalwork.

ATI has an incredible amount of expertise in the world of polymer guns—they did create the Omni Hybrid Maxx polymer AR-15, after all. So creating a hybrid polymer 1911 seems like a logical next step. And we have to say…they nailed it. The 5" stainless match-grade barrel delivers accuracy on-par with dedicated match 1911s, and the 4-pound trigger provides a creep-free pull that breaks clean. The sights are Glock-inspired both in design and in fit—replacing them is a simple matter, and you've got years of aftermarket Glock sights out there to choose from. The removable plate just ahead of the rear sight can be removed to make way for a red dot (once you've purchased the proper adapter plate, sold separately).

It's the classic 1911, "lightened up" a little, both in weight and price. If you've been wanting to carry a 1911, your ship has come in.
