Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product!! Although I have not yet had the chance to put this kit together yet, I was surprised at the good condition of the components. I was sort of expecting something more worn down, but its in good condition. I am happy and will probably order another one in a few months..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just as advertised, used but good condition. Item is just as advertised. Pretty good condition some parts are dirty but can be cleaned up ok. If you want to restore it to a usable semiauto its not to difficult, just need a new barrel a lower from a FFL dealer and a lower parts kit. You may want to look for an original forend piece if you can find one, they're getting scarce. I also recomend replacing the gas tube, it's pretty crudded up. A fun project if you like building AR's

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice kit for the price This parts kit was complete. All parts shown in the photos were included. None of the small parts or pins were missing. The stock and pistol grip did show a bit of wear, but both were serviceable. There was a small crack in the butt plate. This crack in the butt plate is almost always present in this model and does not effect the finished rifle. Not much wear at all on the upper or bolt. No forward handguard retainer is included. I'm not sure why the carbine length handguard is included, it is useless with this kit, but I knew that going in. This is my third M16A1 kit from Sportsman's Guide and I have been very satisfied with all of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great kit! All of the parts were in great shape and the kit went together well with my Bushmaster lower and Del-Ton barrel. The handguard that comes with the kit is carbine length, while the rest of the kit is for rifle length, which makes no sense to me. I ended up getting a rifle length handguard elsewhere. My kit was missing three small parts: a trigger guard pin, one takedown pin detent, and a detent spring. All in all, I love it and am considering buying another kit to build.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Got lucky! After reading other mixed reviews I realized the purchase was a gamble with relation to the condition of the parts. Because of SG return policies I knew they would stand behind the purchase. The parts I received were in excellent condition with very little wear. The kit was missing one front sight pin and I noticed there was a hole in the parts bag that it probably fell out of. Even the butt stock was in great shape! I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ended up with a very nice rifle everything went together and worked fine with the correct parts. the upper takes a 20 inch barrel ,1;12 twist, 5.56mm. green mountain barrel co, # GM-M15 . this is the original barrel. the gas tube is for 20". The 30 round mag works but; feeds crooked and dents shell neck and you cant reload shell.Buy a colt mag or a plastic pro-mag if you want to reload..
