Reviews
Stealth Arms, AR-15, 80 Lower Receiver Forged Kit is rated 4.0227 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from plan to be disappointed at first glance this looks like a good "project" helper.but, sadly, it is not. Instructions are not good and, in fact, inaccurate. If you follow the directions you are guaranteed a failure. And I wonder why?when one purchases a receiver AND a jig one would expect better than what was delivered.now, having said that I will give my unsolicited advise: prior to project...do your homework and research first. Then research some more. If this advise is followed you might have a 50 / 50 chance of success with this.If you have some experience with machine work the chance of success improves.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very complete kit This kit provides instructions for two different methods to complete the machining process. One method is to use a drill press (I used this one) and the other is to use a milling machine. I noticed the guides for each process did not match exactly when compared to one another by about .050". The drill press method removed about .050" additional material from the width of the back cutout, exposing the edge of the selector detent pin bore. This condition may affect the longevity of the mechanism. Time will tell. After assembly, it works fine. I would recommend the milling method. Also be advised that this kit does not include a trigger guard and the drill press method instructions were not complete.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stealth Arms, AR-15, 80% Lower Receiver Foirged Kit - Excellent Item The 80% forged lower receiver is a great project and relatively simple to complete. It really helps to have a neighbor with a milling machine to help professionally complete the project. The drill jig locates the part well once the locating pin is polished enough to fit in the intended cross hole. I was able to drill the cross holes without any problems on an inexpensive drill press by carefully drilling and frequently clearing and lubricating the bits. I think that using the drilling method for opening the pockets might be more challenging which is why we elected to mill them. It takes about 8 passes to clear out the pockets but the end result was great. Having done it once it would be much easier to do a second one and having an original Colt receiver for reference was very helpful. We found the instructions included with the kit could have been a bit more clear but again having a reference part is very helpful. Also, we found that having the lower component parts was helpful for judging tolerances in regard to pocket width and depth.Upon completion, the lower was assembled with the lower parts kit from Sportsman's Guide and it went together without any problems and functions perfectly.Machining the pockets could be more challenging, but not impossible, without access to a milling machine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible price! I haven't finished milling yet, since I have to put my drill press (bench top) back together after having the motor rebuilt, but this is a great set for the money! I'd been told that other brands charge my total cost or above, before shipping! ~$140-175, while I got it shipped for just under $152! I ordered this for the cool factor, and to save the warranty on my ATI Omni Hybrid lower by using the 80% unit to finish my .300 Fireball/Blackout rifle build.. I may check on the cost of CeraKote, otherwise, it's going to get a multi-stage OD Green w/Satin black tiger stripe camo paint job.
Date published: 2015-03-27
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good documentation etc The casting was good quality and the machining instructions were complete enough to get the job done. I used the jigs for milling vs drilling.
Date published: 2015-03-14
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great combination a lower *0% with the jig was the perfect combination to getting me started building my own ar15. worked perfectly with my drill press. Thanks Sportsman's Guide.
