Thinking about making the move to an open-faced Spinning Reel? For my money, your best choice is Shimano! This new IX Series of Reels is perfect for beginners and budget-conscious anglers.

It sports Shimano's exclusive QuickFireII bail lever that makes one-handed casting just as easy as with your old push-button closed-face reel. And look at the price... affordable for anyone! Check out the chart below for specs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value at This Price ! Haven't used it, but seems of fine quality. The jury is still out on the bail flipper, but quality seems good, however time will tell, as bail springs are usually an Achilles heel, for spinning reels. Short on line capacity & big for an UL, this will be a backpacker and 'planter' trout reel for me, where the fish don't grow too large. Overall seems of good value for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST starter reel. I was given this reel for my 10th birthday and 15 years later is still being used for my panfishing addiction. Little care and loads of use haven't stopped this reel. Just bought another one, and for the price you have to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my two favorite budget reels. Lasts forever with great performance you would expect from Shimano. Why spend $50 or more when you don't have to?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent reels for the price. I put this reel on a 7 foot light action rod with 6 Lb. Silver Thread line. This setup works great for crappie.
