This air rifle is awesome. it has been a long time since shooting an air rifle. Did not of the advancement. I was used to the pump ( 20 times). Ruger makes a kick ask me later air rifle. Used for squirrel control from advice of local power company.

Wow! This is like a REAL gun! Someone said it was "heavy". It is - weighs more than my 10/22, but has a nice, solid feel to it, not unlike my other Rugers (I'm a BIG Ruger fan, btw). I particularly like the fact that I can have a real shooting experience for far less than real shooting prices (what other gun can you get 1,000 rounds for under $20?). I'm taking it out this weekend to test it against one of its competitors. Something tells me I won't be too disappointed.

Gun Safety Starts By Not Pointing Fingers

I was recently with friends who had children between the ages of 9 and 14. The oldest child suggested a little target practice with plastic cups as bull's-eyes. When the boy came back to the group carrying that gun, its muzzle was pointing in all kinds of unsafe directions. At one point it swept around past virtually everyone there, including somewhere right between my own two eyes. I had to say something!

Teach Children Respect For Firearms

The only way a child is ever going to learn about firearms or tools is to be taught. You need to keep reinforcing the fact that guns are not taboo, magic, or forbidden, but like many other things, can be dangerous if a person does not practice safe handling techniques. Here's how to get kids safely into shooting sports.

Controlled-Feed Bolt-Action vs. Push-Feed

Some riflemen (of both sexes) claim a controlled-feed bolt-action is superior to a push-feed. They may be right. Or not. But you have to understand the mechanics of both actions to form an educated opinion of your own.

Rifling Twist Rates & Bullets

We all understand that a rifle barrel has spiral grooves (rifling) in order to impart spin to bullets. This stabilizes them so they fly true, like a well-thrown football. But what's all this talk about twist rates like 10-inch or 1-in 14? What's that all about and how important is it?
