Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great for travel, not so much for rough work After one year with this back pack, let me first say that it isn't at all a terrible backpack, but it shouldn't at all be put to harder use other than carrying a few items, no more than 20 pounds.I had a few issues with this backpack. First and foremost, I don't know if it was a factory defect or design flaw, but the rings that allow you to adjust the straps were not adequate and I often found that they would slip and lead to a lop-sided backpack. I had to tie a knot to keep it from slipping further.Next, the stitching is very weak. I carried my college textbooks and after one semester, I found tears in the inner seems at the bottom. I wasn't even carrying that much stuff, (20-25lbs). For a "rugged" backpack, this was unacceptable,When I actually took this camping, I had to take extra caution to prevent things like rain or insects from getting inside. The material is going to make you SWEAT BULLETS. I took this with me on a trip to Europe and that hot Spanish, Italian sun is not exciting at all with this thing on your back.Another issue I had was with the pockets both on the side and on the strap. They just did not close well enough to ensure that what was inside would not fall out or be pick-pocketed.But as far as good things about this backpack, there were lots of storage areas for organization, and I have to be honest that this is one good-looking backpack. I recommend this for school children or the casual outdoorsman who takes his girlfriend out to the park for a picnic. For 27-ish dollars, (not to including shipping) I suppose you get what you pay for. Be gentle with this thing. Do not toss it onto the floor after a long day at class, or hike through rocky or wet terrain with this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice, but not too functional I ordered a couple of these because I thought they were really attractive, and I wanted something canvas. I liked them a lot at first, but having been using one regularly for the past few months as a school bag, I have some issues:First, as another reviewer mentioned, the straps do indeed keep coming loose. This results in needing to tie them to keep them closed, which of course makes the bag more difficult to to take off and put on.The bag has no reinforcements. This can be a good or bad thing I suppose, but being loose canvas, and being a school bag for me, I put some fairly heavy items in it; a 3.5 lb laptop, 21" baton for walking home, aluminum silverware, bandaids, a rain parka, etc. You know, EDC odds-and-ends. The weight caused the bag to continuously slip down due to the loose straps. But more importantly, the lack of reinforcement caused the bag to sag noticeably back and down. The bag doesn't have a sternum or waist strap, so this pulls the bag away from your center of gravity (I find bags to be most comfortable when higher up on the back and pulled close to the body). I found my lower back hurting and the straps pulling on my shoulders more than they should have as a result. Also, the shape and size of the straps are slightly awkward. They're very wide and seem made for someone with very broad shoulders. Normally I wear straps over my collar-bone, but this dug into them and hurt. So I had to wear them over my shoulder-bone/deltoid muscles. Not a big deal for everyone, but I ride a bicycle often, the position of which pulls the straps inward and makes them uncomfortable.Honestly if the bag were just a little stiffer and didn't slip as much, it wouldn't be that bad at all. And when it's packed really full, especially with softer stuff (such as clothing for a trip), I find that it's actually quite comfortable and spacious. There are a lot of compartments, and aesthetically, it looks nice. And it might work for others; but not me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The size is a good size for a range bag. Lots of pockets and extras inside. The bag is cotton and it looks like the dividers between the pockets won't last, they are very thin. Soft items will be great but a sharp cornered book might poke a hole. I am keeping it because I like the size, but I will have to extra careful in the contents.
