Make as much of the gauze as possible fit into and covering the entry/exit wound. You want as much of the active ingredient that causes the clotting to occur in contact with the wound as possible. If it's a no joke "through- and- through" wound you gotta pack both holes. Probably the reason they come in packs of two. If it's a gusher you need to pack quick and maintain pressure over the wound. Put more sterile gauze over the quikclot and then wrap your work with a field bandage, or "vetrap", "ace bandage" or other suitable material that you can fasten your quikclot gauze into place.
