New Romanian Military Wool Trench Coat, Light Olive Drab is rated 3.7778 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Romanian Greatcoat The coats(3) I purchased are exactly as advertized. I would like to see you use a better way to notify the purchaser when the product is being shipped and include a tracking number. I received one with the first coat but nothing with the 2nd and 3rd. Other than that, I am please with my first purchases from the Sportsman's Guide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The real thing - a classic long, heavy wool coat for wind and cold My XL arrived without any defects, odors (except woolen), or signs of use. It seems to be new. Having been folded up in storage, it does have a few wrinkles. Its heavy (5+ pounds), sturdy, and well designed. Each of the very solid buttons has a hole to fasten in. No useless decoration. All the straps, buttons, and metal fasteners have a purpose. OK, the epaulets are decorative, but you could stick your cap or gloves in them. It has a nice cotton liner and a buttonable inside pocket. There is a row of buttons down the back seam that allows you to tighten the fit below the waist. The back strap allows you to snug up the waist, but not by degrees. Its either on or offI am 6 feet and wear 38 inch waist pants and 40 L coats. The XL fits perfectly, with room for a sweater or two under it. The hem falls three or four inches below my knees. The wind can part the two sides of the coat below the bottom button. But there are two metal hooks at the hem that you could fasten to stop that. I can't get them together yet. There are also two curious short straps of fabric on the inside between the bottom button and the metal hooks that hold small flat pieces of metal. I have no idea how they fasten, if they do.I mentioned that everything works. Unlike many coats, the top front flaps can be folded over to protect the upper chest and throat. The wearer's left flap buttons to the coat to make it secure. You can also easily turn the collar up, but the collar does not fasten closed.Besides being warm, the coat does a very good job of keeping the wind out. In addition to the heavy wool being fairly impervious, the sleeves' liners have elastic wrist bands that keep the wind from blowing up your arms.My wife is not crazy about the "yellow-green" color. Its really olive drab, maybe a bit lighter than standard U.S. OD. But this is not a high fashion, merino coat for the theater, though it is very presentable. It is for people who are out in the cold and want to be warm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Purchase This coat came in and I couldn't be happier. The thing looks sharp and wears well. I followed the recommendations and ordered a size up and it fit nicely. Only reason for 4 stars is that the coat seems to be unevenly made, and one collar seems to sit lower than the other. Incredible value for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Coat! 5 stars for me, but maybe not for you The coat is exactly what my son was looking for. It came in very good condition - all buttons on, no stains. It is a heavy wool(?) fabric and somewhat stiff. It did come balled up and it smelled moth bally. I hung it up outside for two days, turning it a few times and flipping it inside out - took care of both issues. Now the problem you may have - I ordered an XL knowing that sizes tend to run small. My son is 6'2" and about 160 and fits him almost perfectly (a little loose in the shoulders). I am 6' 220 and er.. American build. The coat does not fit me around the waist. So if you are a 34 waist or less - no issues, 36 would be pushing it, 38+ nope for this coat. Doesn't mean that you won't get an XL that is a bit more forgiving in the waist, but don't hold your breath ... unless you are sucking in your gut.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Keeper Item is heavy wool. I had a missing button on the back that I replaced with one from the front. The stitching down the back was gone and I had to restich the seam. Coat works great for quietly hunting in the woods.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Coat! I have purchased two of these in XL. I'm fairly average size and generally wear a large. The first XL had a nice, tailored fit -- just right. Neither tight nor overly loose. The second XL was a bit oversized -- perfect for going on over multiple hunting layers. So, XL has a bit of variation to it. As for the condition, the first was better built, but seemed to have seen maybe one use. It was missing a button but was otherwise perfect. The second seemed never to have been out of its original storage. Decently built, but not quite at the same level as the first. Nice coats both of them. I ended up with two because I originally intended to replace the buttons with something quieter and wear it as a muzzle-loader season overcoat (wool being both warm and quiet, for stalking), but I couldn't bring myself to cut the buttons off the first coat. It's just a beautiful old "great coat." So I bought a second. Recommendation for anyone looking at these -- if you're 190-200 pounds, average build, with a chest around 44, give or take, get the XL. These are at least one size over our normal American sizes, and as indicated above, even that varies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Coat Ever. I just got this in the mail from fedex, I opened it and it does have a strong storage smell, but that can easily be fixed by simply airing it out for a while. The coat is very heavy and its actually a pretty dark OD colour. Tried it on and fits amazing. I read alot of reviews that it runs small, I ordered a Large, though Im 6'1'' and weigh about 205lbs, pretty normal figure, not buff not large, just an regular everyday normal guy and it fit perfect. Cant wait to iron it out once the storage smell is gone and wear it to Italy! Super excited and have no regrets! I would recommend this purchase to anyone.
