I like to buy American made, when I can. The lacing eyelets and hooks on these boots were not the quality I would have expected. I had to hammer down the back crimp on several of the cheap thin lacing hooks. Otherwise they seem okay. Leather looks good grade. As a metal fabricator, my boots wear out fast regardless of how much they cost. I look for deals on quality boots. The closeouts at the Guide are great prices on good boots. If there's a fitting or other problem? returns are easy.

All-Day Fishing: Fending Off Fatigue

How do you feel after a full day of bass fishing? Fatigued I bet -- me, too! That's because I've learned that fatigue can diminish my results. However, I can do a bunch of little things to help manage it. So here's a few things (in no particular order) that I pay attention to in order to stay alert.

New Boots: Breaking In Is Hard to Do

I have this embarrassing tendency to get emotionally attached to inanimate objects such as cars, bicycles and camping gear. It can be hard to let go of something in which I've invested hours of emotion. But sometimes, a girl must move on. A recent case in point: replacing my favorite hiking boots.
