Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have use my gen-8 now for one season. It has met all of my expectations. I have only begun to use a few of it's many of it's many capabilities. I hope to do some other types of fishing nest year to use some of the other functions. Love the large screen. Think I still like the buttons vs the touch screen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great. In salt water. Fishing I bought the hds-8 gen 2 a year ago and love it. Some of my friends have different brands and they are not nearly as user friendly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice rig I bought my HDS-8 a year and a half ago and have had two summers with it on one of the deepest "mean depth" lakes in Maine. I am starting to like it. I have had a difficult time learning to use it. So far, it is working well. If it lasts 7 or 8 years, I will buy another for sure.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good but latest upgrades is poor I'm was overall very pleased with this unit from the beginning (5 star). Best resolution I've seen, great sonar with a Airmar P66 transducer, fast and reliable.Unfortunately has the updates been slowing down the unit remarkable and maked it unstable. (1 star)With latest update 3.0 do the unit reboot up 'til 5 times before it works and the very feature I wanted "AutoRouting for Navionics" doesn't work, it tries to go over land on my Navionics Platinum+ XL3. When I change from different screen setups does the unti need up to 10 seconds for the change. I have of course reinstalled the upgrade etc...I would really like to see ver3.5 to be fast, reliable and with features that works, then it once more can be the really great product I once bought!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ok, but has issues When in rough water unit will turn off by itself when jarred by waves and such. While fishing screen will go dim on its own. Will not brighten back up for quite a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great on LOW would like more info on which palates are best and are the most common ones used
Date published: 2014-08-19
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dislikes It's a nice uniteTwo things I hate about itIf you forget to save your trail when you first go out, you cannot delete that trail without deleting every saved trail you have. I think that is stupid. Also it only will record ten trailsCan save plenty of routes, but if you make a curve in your route it records a straight line. You could hit something. If I had known these to things before I spent that much money on it I would of put my old lowrance global 1600 on my new boatWish lowrance had a update to fix my dislikes about thie HDS Gen2-8
