It's a good mile in -- make that a nasty, brushy, untracked mile in. Four years in a row I pulled deer out of there by myself, uphill part of the way, sometimes having to crawl as I dragged the deer through heavy undergrowth. This year was different -- thanks to my ATV!

Safety First On ATVs

I came around a bend in the trail where a twisted dead tree branch lay. As the front wheels drove over it, the branch's odd corkscrew shape made the timber swing up and strike me hard in the head. It could have been bad. But I was wearing a full-face helmet and never got a scratch. The experience reminded me about how important safety is when driving my ATV or Honda Big Red side-by-side. Here are some safety tips to keep in mind before hitting the trail.
