We lose power alot here in in mild weather so this radio was mainly to be for weather alerts and news updates but the sound really fantastic and the channel options are so varyed we have it on almost 24/7. Rechargeing the batteries with the crank only takes between 1 and 2 minutes of easy turning we should save alot of money on Batteries alone.

My Kaito Voyager radio is wonderful. Small but powerful. It arrived at my house just in time for a blizzard! Was I happy I had ordered this little "sweetheart"! After the storm I got the a/c adapter for Kaito Voyager series 500 radios. This makes my radio complete. Everyone should have one incase of an emergency! Judith

It works well. I believe the solar panel will provide all the power I need out on the big waters of Lake Nipigon my biggest concern is getting NOAA reception when I'm out on the water. It is imperative to monitor the weather at all times while your out there and before leaving the dock. Good reception is a must.

The radios I bought were everything I was expecting. I was very happy with the performance and was surprised with the shipping bc it was on back order and shipped a lot earlier.

Camping 101: Be Your Own Weatherman

Clouds, wind patterns, even those cool looking rings around the sun and the moon can tell you about upcoming weather in your area. Best of all, you don't need a lot of equipment to be able to make fairly sound weather predictions -- especially if you know a few basic principles and can read the local skies (and often animal behavior and other physical signs).

Stumbling Upon Geocaching

The cacophony of rain on wood was the only sound as the two mountain bikers waited for the downpour to pass, or at least abate, in shelter off a dirt road. Then there was another sound. "What's up there?" asked my biking friend Jan Duprey. A small plastic container was by one of the beams. We had discovered a geocache.
