Rated 5 out of 5 by from Army surplus cot updated This a replica of the old Army surplus cot of the 1950's & 1960s. The wooden legs and support bars have been updated to metal, making them much heavier than the original, but the hinges work very well, the legs and end-pieces appear to be well-made, although the plastic plugs for the end-pieces needed gluing in with rubber cement to keep them contained. After I folded the cot back up I could actually get everything back in the carrying bag that came with it.The thing to compare this cot design with other cots is that there are six legs to support your body, rather than four as seen on competitors' cots. Remember, if you put more weight on either end of the other cots, you stand a very good chance of tilting it down to the ground and dumping yourself out. With the six on this design, that can't happen. And very reasonably priced as compared to the $80 to $120 cots that serve the same purpose. I plan to use a small air mattress on the top, just to add to the comfort, but I've used this type of cot for 50 years and have been well pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality, lightweight, durable & comfortable The quality is what I expect from S.G.. Same basic design that's been around since at least WW1 except with modern materials. These new cots are lighter and stronger than their ancestors. I have no doubt they will last for generations if properly stored.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from sturdy equipment Have had the guide gear cot setup since arrival with items layered on top of it and it is still tight as it arrived. As one who is starting to feel the aches and pains of my life, I decided that planning on crawling around on the ground in a smaller tent is no longer an option when I go camping. This is especially true since I usually have my vehicle either at the site or a few hundred yards away. So I purchased a teepee tent and am now outfitting it, first with the cot, then perhaps, if the significant other will come along, a queen air mattress. The bag is a great accessory if for no other reason than to keep the parts together with each cot. Those that have used the military cots will be familiar with that issue of the design and should have no problems setting it up. You will find that the material is extremely tight at initial setup but you CAN get the ends in place without a pry bar if one is patient.I am giving it a god rating so far as I have yet to use it for a full season and that is when I could give any product a great rating.
