Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Add-On for a Stand with no Rail Bought this to make a stand we call "Frankenstein," using parts from other stands instead of forking out $150 for an entirely new model. The rail went up easily. The pad is simply foam rubber with no cover (as shown on the box,) and it'll only last 1 season due to squirrels, etc. To be fair, SG shows the pad as it really is in its catalog photo. (Not a big deal, as my stand won't even allow me to rest up against it.) The railpad was the easiest and simplest to install, ever! This is NOT much of a safety rail, and it will flex. With this in-mind, set the unit up a bit higher than your desired shooting height, and once you apply weight it will spring down to where you want it. I also bought the military-style single stand blind material and the GG (flat) stand umbrella/roof. Made a quality, custom, low-profile stand for $40 thanks to Sportsman's Guide! Thanks, George.
