Galileo Thermometer is a marriage of science and art.

Amazing! 400+ years ago, Galileo discovered that as a liquid's temperature changes, so will an object's flotation in it... the relative density. That's the science behind this cool Thermometer! Five hand-blown glass spheres (8 in 17" unit), each fitted with a metal medallion, float in a craftsman-blown cylinder. They rise and fall. You read the lowest sphere near the top, determining the room temperature to about 1 degree accuracy. Fascinating laws of physics!

Reviews
Galileo Thermometer is rated 3.7143 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful conversation piece I think it looks beautiful, and the science behind them is neat. Obviously it's not modern digital technology, so you cant get a reading to a precise degree, but it is very accurate to "ballparking" the room temperature within 0 to 4 degrees. Cool!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good price The Galileo Thermometer is wonderful as it really works as we have proven by manipulating the temperature in the room watching the temp. balls fall and rise accordingly. It's base is lop-sided not allowing the cylinder to sit plumb but it still works and is a colorful addition to our living room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gift, great price! Bought this as a gift after receiving one for a gift myself. Item came in perfect condition on a timely manner. Have seen these thermometers in stores at a MUCH higher price. Great at our cottage where the weather does change often.
