Rated 5 out of 5 by from This fan was a replacement for an older ecofan. The new fan is more powerful and has a larger blade which displaces much more air. A very good choice. Wood is our sole source of heat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works Been using the fan about two weeks now. Works good and is quiet. Does not blow a lot of heat, but we noticed the room seems warmer. Best part is no power required.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We are using the Ecofan heat-powered wood stove fan and like it very much. It does not take electricity to run it and does circulate the heat from the wood burning stove to the other room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting device Purchased as a gift for a gadget freak, he does not have a wood stove but I figured it would work with a fireplace, and it does. I hung it on the screen that stands in front, so when removed to add wood it is also out of the way. It works well and the instructions say that the electric motor may need to be replaced after 2 seasons.

Just no external sources, its a special type of motor that produces electricity by the high heat given off. I just can't the name of the type of motor. Deep space satellites use them in place of large solar panel arrays. The voyager probes use them to this day, heated by uranium or plutonium alloy. If i read right, it has something to do with the fact that as the heat disperse's, it generates a small current in metal.
