This seems to work okay but the backplate screws for the battery compartment are so small I did not have a phillips tip small enough to turn them. No port for solar panel operation. Also the instructions are in such tiny font needed a magnifying glass to read them.

I havent been able to get it out of metric and into standard system
  3. Altimeters respond to air pressure, so an altimeter will vary as the lows and highs come and go. That being said, this is a sophisticated instrument. The instructions do forget to tell you to press Mode 8 times quickly in the altimeter setting to get to read altitude (elevation) in FEET. A bit of familiarization with altimeters helps in understanding how and why this instrument works so well.

I happen to like this,I read some reviews that it was hard to set up,it wasn't"If you follow the instructios you will have no trouble,You have to program the area ou are in,I live in Fl. and there is only a five degree offset for true North. When I first turned it on,It programed it's self,I checked it againest my Silva and it was dead on.One reviewer stated their was no shut off and when you change batteries you have to reprogram,The batteries last a while.
