Charming Cast Iron Kettle Humidifier steams away dry air. SAVE BIG!

This is the way Grandma used to do it. She'd fill a cast iron kettle with water, set it on the stove and let it steam. Worked wonders for dry skin in the wintertime. If Grandpa was feeling stuffy she'd throw in a eucalyptus leaf or two.

This Kettle looks a lot like Granny's... heavy-duty cast iron construction, metal coil handle... a reminder of simpler times. Holds 2 1/2 qts. Includes lid. Weighs 9.2 lbs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A nice idea but does not really work as intended. Why? The spout opening that's supposed to let the steam out is insufficient. The water gets too hot and boils over through the closed lid, or even the spout. If one fills the pot only 1/2 full one has to watch it often because the water evaporates quickly. I have some cast iron spacers and leave the lid half way open, but then there is no steam!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product was as described. Works well as a humidifier. Will need to be seasoned if used for hot water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This has really been a help. We burn wood and the house is dry. This puts humidity back in the air !!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is perfect for keeping the house comfy while the wood furnace heats up the place. Nothing to burn up when it boils off all the water....
