The Automatic FishermanTM is the ice fishing innovation that promises to make your day on the lake a little easier and a WHOLE lotta fun!
"Want to catch more fish?"
- Of course. Silly question.
"Want to catch all types of fish with just 1 ice fishing setup?"
- Well, yeah. Who wouldn't? But... how ?
"With the Automatic FishermanTM. That's how."
Combining a tip-up, down rigger and fishing rod, it's the only ice fishing rig we've seen that actually lets you fight the fish on the rod and reel. And all types, too. Blue gill, perch, crappie, walleye, pike and trout... all with just a few simple adjustments of the Automatic Fisherman's trigger arm and bobber.
So, What IS the Automatic Fisherman, Exactly?
The Automatic Fisherman consists of a rectangular base with 2 small raised tabs fastened to a vertical arm with a nut and a bolt. This vertical arm is known as the trigger arm, and it's adjustable to accommodate fishing rods from 23" to 34". The trigger arm has a hole located at the top for a mercury light and a counterweight on the top, allowing it to fall out of the way when the hook is set, giving you an area to fight the fish. The rectangle base features V-notches cut out at the bottom for gripping the ice, while a perpendicular support stops the unit from tipping on its side in windy conditions. The base also has a hollow tube that acts as a rod holder. A support structure on the rod holder gives it extra strength for those really big fish.
Here's How the Automatic Fisherman Works.
When a fish bites your bait and starts to swim away, the bobber on the line will come up to the fishing rod and get tight. The steel trigger shaft will angle down, causing the fishing rod to slide off the post and set the hook in the fish. The red trigger arm will fall out of the way and hit the base, creating a tangle-free area to fight the fish (making a loud "CRACK!" as it does, alerting you to the action). The fishing rod and the drag on the reel do the work until you grab the rod and start reeling the fish up!
What tip-up do you know that consistently catches panfish along with mean ol' fighters like northern pike? All while letting you fight the fish by rod and reel? Exactly. The Automatic Fisherman is the only ice fishing set-up that can. Heck, buy a few of them, and it's like having a small army of fishermen out on the ice with you!
