Details & Specs

American Coin Treasures® "10 Years of Buffalo Nickels" Wood Frame 10 - Pc. Display.

Considered the most distinctly American of all U.S. coin designs, the Buffalo Nickel celebrates our country's westward expansion. Famed artist Earle Fraser used a composite American Indian profile to create the obverse, and depicted the docile bison Black Diamond, famous denizen of the Central Park Zoo, on the reverse. The coin was only minted from 1913 to 1938, and even today remains a nostalgic favorite.

American Coin Treasure's collection includes 10 of these Buffalo Nickels from the years 1925-1937 (excluding 1931, 1932, and 1933). The coins come beautifully displayed in a rich genuine wood frame, with a description of the Buffalo Nickel's unique history, as well as a certificate of authenticity.

1913 First Year of Issue Buffalo Nickel. Created a century ago, to enhance the beauty of American coinage.

Wanting to create a coin that was American in style, designer James Earle Fraser decided upon the buffalo, a large part of the western states heritage, for the reverse side of the coin. The obverse side features a Native American Indian head, a portrait which Fraser claims was a composite of several Native Americans. A true collector's item, and a must for any coin enthusiast.
