Articles & Tips
Gun Vises Are Handy

The messy workbench syndrome can be a problem when it comes time to clean or work on firearms. Have you ever thought about trying to use a gun vise? It's not a cure-all for a disorganized workbench, but it can make life a lot easier when you work on your guns.

Have The Right Tool For The Job

When I started working on mechanical equipment, I had a bad habit of using a screwdriver that was too small for the job and ended up messing up the screw head, or used a crescent wrench instead of a proper open end wrench, box end wrench or socket. A huge NO NO! There are screwdrivers that are specifically made for the screws used in firearms. They have bits that are not tapered on the sides, but are straight up and down and of precise sizes. It's important to use the right tool for the job.

Bedding Your Action

I know everyone who owns a centerfire rifle has heard about, read about and wondered about glass bedding your action. You have probably wondered if it would substantially help you keep a nice tight shot group on the range, which can transfer into more game on the table. The answer to that dilemma is a definite, "maybe."

Scope Clarity: It’s Not The Glass

I get a bit irked when folks talk about the "good glass" in scopes. It's not the glass; it's the coatings! After touring several scope manufacturing plants and talking with several optical engineers, I've learned that glass is glass. They don't buy "cheap," "better" and "best" glass to put in these instruments.

Here's a checklist to make sure you have all the necessary gear before you head out to the range or field to target shoot.
