Fire Sticks are an ingenious solution to an age-old problem. You need fire to survive and you need these fire sticks in your bug out bag! 1. Gather kindling into a pile. 2. Use tool to scrape Magnesium shavings from large silver rod. 3. Use flat sharp edge of tool or a knife to strike sparks. 4. Aim sparks at shavings and kindling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I got these mil.-spec fire starter sticks to take camping and hiking. Haven't done any camping or hiking this year yet but did get them out to start a bomb fire with and it worked great

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product at a great price I had bought a similar item from SPG in the past. I was happy with that firestick, but this one is even better!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't Like I have ordered the product in the past, and liked the thick solid rod that would not break, and lasted for hundreds of fires. These, however, feel very flimsy. I bought them for gifts, and I am almost ashamed to give them.I am surprised that people are saying the backing is magnesium, as I have convinced myself it is aluminum. It fails the shave & burn test and the vinegar test. Also, nowhere on the packaging does it say that it is magnesium.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from so so Easy to make sparks but not so easy to scrape or light. I filled a bottle cap with the scrapings and was unable to light it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fire started sticks These are AWFUL. I cannot get enough spark to light a match!! Really, I tried and could get little spark to light tender. They are useless!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good in a pinch It takes a little while to find the right technique to get them to spark but once you do they work fine.
